Douglas ESD has a solid reputation among mid-sized ESDs in the State of Oregon. Major resolutions and contract services include early intervention/early childhood special education, program for orthopedically impaired, speech and language therapy, behavior consultants, school psychologists, consulting teachers in areas of special education, and educational, curriculum, and network services.

DESD currently employs 115 full- and part-time administrative, confidential, licensed and classified staff members who provide these programs and services to the 13 school districts in Douglas County. Component school districts range in size from 150 students to 6,600 students. DESD staff is widely respected for their expertise and dedication to promoting student achievement.

Douglas ESD is located in Roseburg, Oregon. Recreational and cultural opportunities can be enjoyed year-round throughout the county. Within 90 minutes, residents can drive west to the Oregon Coast, east to Crater Lake and the Cascade Mountains, north to Eugene, Oregon's second largest city, or south to Medford/Ashland, the home of fine shopping and the Oregon Shakespearean Festival.

Benefits

Douglas ESD is an Oregon State Public Retirement Plan employer. Eligible employees contribute 6% of their salary to their retirement account on a pre-tax basis. Employees may participate in Section 125 Plans, Medical Reimbursement Plans, a variety of 403-B Plans or the deferred compensation Oregon Savings Growth Plan.

DESD currently contributes monthly toward the employee's insurance premium for medical, dental and vision coverage. The employee's contribution over the district's cap depends on the insurance coverage selected.
