ABOUT BEDFORD CSD
Bedford Central is a school district that reflects the faces of America.
Teachers and Administrators who choose to launch or continue their career in the Bedford Central School District do so because of the setting in which our students learn. With over 4,400 students representing a wide spread of socio-economic groups who learn and interact with each other, and a certified staff of approximately 440, our teachers experience real commitment to their professional development.
Additionally, Bedford Central offers opportunities to be associated with a faculty that has a stellar reputation for its commitment to excellence. Our students will only succeed if their teachers do – so we work hard to provide every teacher with outstanding system-wide and school-based instructional support.
Prior to the beginning of school, all teachers new to Bedford Central participate in training sessions that introduce the expectations for students and teachers as outlined in our school system’s innovative framework for success.
Once in the classroom, teacher mentor/trainers provide new teachers with intensive, daily, onsite assistance in effective instruction, assessment, communication and classroom management.
Onsite resource teachers in specialized areas – such as science and gifted and talented education – are also available to help grade level teams, departments and individual teachers.
Our district is comprised of 7 schools – 5 elementary and 2 secondary schools, with enlightened education philosophy and leadership. The diversity of our school district community population of approximately 32,000 is reflected in our myriad of national groups, different languages and dialects.
Physically located in Northern Westchester County, Bedford Central is less than one hour from New York City and approximately four hours from Boston. We are strategically located to the national interstate highway system that can conveniently take you from Maine to Florida.
Diversity
The Bedford Central School District Board of Education, cognizant of the demographics represented in our student body, is committed to the principle that children improve their capacity to learn and mature where there is a culture of inclusiveness, differences are valued, and the uniqueness of each individual is validated among their peers, faculty and administrators of the school system.
Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action
The Bedford Central School District Board of Education is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Employer. Federal and/or State anti-discrimination laws and the policy of the Board of Education prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or physical or mental disability or any other basis prohibited by law.
