Description
Michigan Leadership Institute is pleased to facilitate the search for the next superintendent for Dearborn Public Schools. Dearborn Public Schools is the third largest school district in Michigan, located in Wayne County at the heart of the Detroit metropolitan region. The District serves more than 19,000 students across the City of Dearborn and a portion of Dearborn Heights. The District proudly educates a richly diverse student population with approximately 45% multilingual learners. Dearborn Public Schools is deeply committed to equity, access, and high academic achievement for all students. The District has a 96% graduation rate.
The District operates eight high schools, nine middle schools, and 22 elementary schools, along with specialized and innovative programs including the Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology, Collegiate Academy, the Michael Berry Career Center, comprehensive early childhood programming, and Adult and Community Education. Students benefit from robust career and technical education pathways and free early college opportunities that enable eligible students to earn an associate degree or trade certificate prior to high school graduation.
Supported by a dedicated team of 2,541 employees, the District operates with sound fiscal stewardship through a $453 million annual budget ($277 million General Fund), a foundation allowance of $10,214 per pupil, and a projected fund balance of $53 million ($33 million General Fund). Dearborn’s rich industrial and cultural heritage - home to Ford Motor Company’s world headquarters and research campus and many other regional, national, and international world headquarters - continues to shape a dynamic local economy. The District benefits from a long-standing and strong collaborative partnership with the Mayor’s Office, City Council, and Police and Fire Departments. Dearborn Public Schools also partners with several community groups and organizations to support students and community success.

Requirements
- Educational administration experience
- Master’s degree in related field; advanced degree (e.g., Ed.S., Ed.D., Ph.D. preferred
- Broad and diversified experience in education with classroom experience preferred
- Michigan Administrative Certificate or equivalent
- Alternative qualifications as deemed acceptable by the Board of Education
