Elementary PrincipalThe Lake George Central School District is seeking a dynamic educational leader to fill the position of Elementary Principal.
Lake George Elementary (LGES) is a high-performing Pre-K-6 school serving approximately 300 students and is consistently ranked among the top elementary schools in the Capital District. The school has been recognized for its academic excellence and leadership culture, including being named a 2024 "Best" School by U.S. News & World Report, earning the 2024 Academic Honor Award from Franklin-Covey, and receiving designation as a 2019-2020 New York State Recognition School.
LGES is known for its strong leadership and character education program. Since 2019, the school has been recognized as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, maintaining this distinction for six consecutive years. Leadership principles are embedded into daily instruction, and students are provided meaningful opportunities for voice, responsibility, and personal growth, reinforced through monthly school-wide celebrations.
Instruction at LGES is built on collaboration, community, and responsiveness to student needs. Teaching teams work closely together at each grade level, creating strong relationships among students and staff and we are excited to begin the search for its next principal who fulfills the qualifications below.
Qualifications
- New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL), School Administrator/Supervisor, or equivalent certification
- Experience as a Building Administrator at the Elementary level preferred
- Must demonstrate strengths in the areas listed below:
»Instructional Program Leadership - Provides professional leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the elementary instructional program. Supports high-quality teaching through classroom observations, feedback, mentoring, and ongoing professional growth.
»Curriculum & Assessment Leadership - Leads cooperative curriculum development, revision, alignment, and evaluation. Ensures effective use of instructional materials, assessment data, and individualized instructional practices to meet diverse student needs.
»Staff Development & Supervision - Builds staff capacity through collaboration, coaching, in-service training, and teacher orientation. Participates in recruitment, interviewing, and recommendation processes related to hiring, retention, and dismissal of staff.
»Student Support & School Climate - Fosters a safe, orderly, inclusive, and respectful learning environment. Maintains positive rapport with students while ensuring appropriate student behavior, discipline, and support services.
»Community & Family Engagement- Develops and maintains positive relationships with families, parent-teacher organizations, and community groups.
»Operational & Building Management - Oversees day-to-day building administration, scheduling, and coordination of school activities.
»Fiscal & Resource Management - Reviews and revises budget recommendations, monitors expenditures, and ensures responsible use of resources aligned with school goals and district priorities.
»Policy & Compliance - Ensures consistent implementation of Board of Education policies, District and Superintendent initiatives, negotiated agreements, Education Law, and Commissioner's Regulations.
»Human Relations - Promotes a professional, cooperative work environment that supports staff morale and effectiveness.
»Strategic Planning - Develops short- and long-term building goals in collaboration with staff. Supports curriculum and programs across grade levels, including coordination with the junior-senior high school.
»Board & District Collaboration - Attends Board of Education meetings and performs additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Terms of Employment:
- Full-time, probationary appointment
- Twelve (12) month position
- The Lake George Central School District offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, estimated between $110,000 and $120,000. This is paired with a comprehensive and generous benefits package as outlined in the Lake George Administration Association contract
